It seems every minute of every day there is a drastic new change in the world of GEO, AI SEO, and organic visibility. Lucky for you, the team at Arc Intermedia follows every update. Now you don’t have to worry — you can get the most important information right there.
Google released an “authenticity” update
With a January 2026 algorithm update by Google labeled the “Authenticity Update,” the world’s largest search engine now favors human-driven content with real expertise and firsthand experience over generic, mass-produced pages. That means indicating in your content why you are a subject matter expert with credibility on the specific topic.
Organic visibility consists of SEO, GEO, and AEO…but that last one should really be HEO
There has been a lot of acronym soup, but in February, Arc Intermedia’s present David Sonn coined the term Human Engine Optimization (HEO) to help organic visibility efforts better focus on optimizing for human engagement and credibility, emphasizing community resonance and real human interactions over machine-centric ranking tactics. AEO is really a component of GEO, so HEO needs to be added into the mix as an addition.
Collapsible content makes for better UI experiences, and it doesn’t hurt optimization
It’s important to follow best practices for using collapsible or hidden content (like accordions and tabs), which can declutter a nicely designed website but can also, if done incorrectly, hide critical content from search and AI answer engines. Search engines can crawl hidden content when it’s technically present in the page HTML, but that visibility and implementation still matter for SEO, AEO, (HEO!) and GEO.
Bing Webmaster Tools is adding AI performance data
Everyone’s favorite insights tool — Bing Webmaster Tools — is the first of the Big Platforms to release AI performance reporting, giving website stakeholders visibility into how their content appears and performs within Bing’s AI-powered search experiences. The update includes insights into AI-driven impressions, clicks, and engagement, helping marketers better understand and optimize for generative search results. Will the other platforms follow?
