Google has launched a major update to the GA4 reporting workspace: customizable dashboards designed to put the metrics that matter most on one consolidated page.
This will make routine performance monitoring faster and more intuitive for many users. Instead of moving between multiple reports to assemble a picture of performance, teams can create a dashboard tailored to their goals and workflows.
What’s new?
Dashboards can be created directly from the Reports workspace using the new + Create button. The flexible, grid-based canvas allows users to:
- Drag and drop dimensions and metrics
- Move and resize cards
- Build scorecards, tables, line charts, bar charts, and donut charts
- Add funnel visualizations to monitor conversion steps and drop-off
- Publish dashboards directly to the Reports navigation
This flexibility makes it possible to create focused views for different needs, such as an executive KPI dashboard, a campaign performance view, or a conversion funnel snapshot.

How are dashboards different from existing GA4 reports?
GA4’s reporting options each serve a different purpose:
- Detail reports are designed for deeper analysis of a specific dataset. They typically combine charts with a table that can be explored by dimension, metric, filter, or comparison.
- Overview reports summarize a particular topic—such as acquisition or engagement—using cards connected to underlying detail reports.
- Dashboards bring KPIs and visualizations together on a flexible, single-page canvas. They can combine cross-functional metrics that would otherwise require navigating between several reports.
In short, detail reports help answer specific questions, overview reports summarize a reporting topic, and dashboards provide an at-a-glance view of the metrics a team wants to monitor regularly.
Why it matters
GA4 has long offered powerful reporting capabilities, but finding the right information can require several clicks and a thorough understanding of its report structure. Custom dashboards should reduce that friction by making common metrics easier to organize, review, and share within a property.
This could help teams spend less time navigating GA4 and more time interpreting results, identifying changes, and deciding what to do next. Published dashboards are available to anyone with access to the property, although an Editor or Administrator role is required to create and publish them.
There are a few limitations at launch:
- Standard properties can include up to 15 cards per dashboard
- Segments, card-level comparisons, and API support are not currently available.
Google says the feature is rolling out across accounts. The company has also previewed plans for future AI-powered prompts that could help users build reports automatically.
