[VIDEO] Unlocking Market Opportunities with AI with Deep Research
Transcript:
Hi, I’m Dave of President of Arc Intermedia, a digital marketing agency, and welcome back to what am I working on today.
Today’s backdrop is Zion National Park. Hike the Narrows, early.
So today I finally carved out some time to try open AI’s new deep research (add deep research logo) which comes as part of our professional account along with ChatGPT. Don’t confuse this with DeepSeek. Deep research is a specialized AI capability that can perform in depth multi-step analysis and research. Do a quick search and watch the videos that open AI’s put out. They explain it well.
I had previously been thinking of a market research idea that would enable our digital agency to better serve our clients. I always view marketing as a means to help the business so therefore I wanted to create what I’m calling a customer opportunity analysis (add text) that would not only improve marketing but would directly support the sales process, operations, and the business
We have a client that provides services to hospitals, healthcare systems, and large clinics across the country. No market is exactly the same for them so I thought this would be a great opportunity to really figure where it makes the most sense to put time, money, and personnel for the best return.
Earlier this morning I wrote a very detailed prompt which ended up being over 600 words. I do my prompts in Word just so I can kind of go back and forth and fiddle as I work through details. Once I have it set, I can just upload the doc into whatever AI I’m using. I can also easily pull it into my final report to the client.
I will share my screen in just a bit to show I use Deep Research, but first let me set this up for you to follow along:
My research requires 4 steps:
Part 1 is to look at opportunities within a territory. I was able to upload a file of ~30 plant locations that can each serve 100 mile radius. I asked deep research to look at the not only the number of hospitals and healthcare systems within that area but then to also look at the number of patient beds and possibly the square footage of those buildings. I wanted to get my hands around not just number but the actual size of the opportunity. (remove text)
Part 2 was to look at competitors. I have a competitors list with their websites and general service locations so I’ll upload that and have deep research look at the level of competition within each territory. (remove text)
Part 3 is advertising costs. I want to look at what the marketing or advertising investment needs to be per territory to factor that in as well. I will ask Deep Research to base this on reaching 1,000 people so I could map it back to a CPM ad model. (remove text)
Lastly, part 4 was the final analysis to look at opportunity, competition, and ad costs to determine which territory provides the best opportunity for getting customers and then rank these locations for our from most favorable to least favorable.
OK now let me screen share and show you exactly how this is done.
I first upload my three files – prompts, locations, and competitors. Fasten your seat belts and Stow your tray tables here we go.
So the first thing you’re going to notice is that deep research asks me questions back so that it can do a better job. This is really important to understand how this tool is thinking so I did a quick copy/past of these questions and made them larger so it would be more easily read.
OK so now I’ll upload the answers to these questions and get this thing going.
You’ll notice now that deep research does a quick recap of what’s been asked.
And now it begins I’ve run this query once before and it takes about 20 minutes so just like your favorite cooking show I’ve already got another roast in the oven and let me pull out the finished meal for you.
So I took what deep research spit out and it’s formatted quite nicely this was a pretty straightforward word copy and paste into word I didn’t do really much formatting yet.
So now let’s look now let’s walk through the results.
Cut it after I say, “that’s wild.”
So now I’m real excited to get with my internal teams to compare their data against this. From THere I’ll get this formatted a bit better and share with our client ASAP.
Where this is most exciting to me is that in less than a couple hours and some good prep work we can conduct significant market research for all of our clients. By providing clients with this type of research it should better open up communications with their sales, operations, and process TEAMS so that marketing can do a far better job in supporting the overall business.
So get your hands on Deep Research and get started. Good luck!
